SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
We may be heading into another school holidays with restrictions on activities and socialising, but we've managed to come up with some great activities to keep the kids entertained.
-
Stay connected with online activities: if you’re aged 12 to 24, join the Youth Services Team online for regular quizzes, games, and activities, and there's even a yoga session.
-
Learn all about recycling: join the Kids Rethink Recycling online presentation from 10am, on Thursday 30 September, where children will learn what happens to their recycling.
-
Get creative with arts and crafts: children aged 3 to 5 can get sticky with a honeybee activity, while those aged 7 to 14 can test their problem-solving skills in a gravity challenge. Grab an activity pack from your local library.

PLAN FOR BROADFORD
Councillors hear from community
Councillors heard submissions from community members on the draft Broadford Structure Plan in a special Questions and Hearings Committee recently.
Following the first round of consultation on the plan in 2020, Council’s Planners reviewed the document and made proposed changes to the overall direction.
The draft plan will be put forward to Councillors at an Ordinary Council Meeting for discussion in the future.

COMMUNITY AWARDS
Nominations now open
Do you know someone who deserves community recognition for their community contributions or want to celebrate achievements from some of our local groups and organisations?
Our Australia Day committee is calling for Australia Day Community Award nominations ahead of the 2022 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony.
We know it has been quite difficult for community groups to meet or host events, so part of our celebrations will be highlighting the innovation and passion involved in online events or whatever your group got up to.

POLLEN SEASON
Prepare for asthma, hay fever
Grass pollen season brings an increase in asthma and hay fever. During the season, a high grass pollen count and a certain type of thunderstorm can also trigger thunderstorm asthma.
For people with asthma or hay fever, especially those who experience wheezing or coughing with their hay fever, thunderstorm asthma can be sudden, serious and even life threatening.
In Victoria, the grass pollen season runs from October through December. Take action to prepare and protect yourself and people in your care this grass pollen season.
