Your monthly all staff email! Merry Christmas!Hi there,We're finally here, the Students' Union is about to close for the Christmas break and I can't help but look back at this entire term and feel so immensely proud of all your hard work. So I wanted to say a massive thank you to each and every single one of you, for your dedication and commitment to your roles, we couldn't do this without you. This Christmas break is really important for all of us. It's not only a chance to look back at all the great achievements from Term One, but it's also the perfect opportunity to switch off, relax and enjoy some well-deserved time with friends and family. But if I can ask for one final thing from you before we break for the holiday, it's that you think about those around you who aren't able to celebrate Christmas or might be spending it alone and that you help them feel loved. Finally, a little Christmas treat from us - payday will come a little bit sooner this month, and everyone should be receiving their December wages tomorrow! This should come with good time to finish any Christmas shopping and start getting ready for the holidays. So once again, thank you so much for your hard work. I wish you a wonderful few weeks of rest, celebrations, and tons of Yorkshire puddings (at least that's what I'll be doing)! Merry Christmas everyone, and happy New Year! Tom Flynn Sabbatical Officers As soon as we come back from the holidays, Lucy will be kicking off the term with her nutrition campaign, focusing on how students can be healthier. Kate is heading up the Academic Rep Conference, which is also situated in her campaign on an inclusive education, so lots of exciting stuff! Venues Our Venues team will be releasing the rota for the first week of term in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled. They’re also investigating ways that we can improve the queuing system at Medicine to improve the experience for customers. We'll release more information about this in Term Two. Retail As soon as we're back from the Christmas break, all staff will be trained on Refreshers, so expect slightly different shifts than usual. We'll also be training the new supervisors and duty managers that will be starting with us in January. New NUS promo will be starting soon, so make sure you check in store for further details. Finally, going forward please ensure that we are following the correct stock management procedures and keeping back areas organised and tidied. Student Opportunities The Student Opps team are getting into the festive spirit and winding down for Christmas. They're sorting out regular bus bookings for next term (already!). With Varsity on the way, they'll be focusing a lot of their time on getting everything ready for our Bears. Student Voice For the next few months, the Voice team will be busy with SU Elections, as nominations launched on 6 December. We encourage all our student staff to run for elections and become the new leaders of the SU! Marketing & Communications We wanted to take the time to thank all of our awesome Marcomms team and we hope that you have a great break. Next term, we'll be looking at dedicating some more one-to-one time with our student staff team to ensure that they’re getting what they need out of their role. While we’re also excited to begin building the new staff intranet which will launch at the end of January! A massive thank you! As a Students' Union, all the work we do is based on five main values: Brave, Student Focused, High Quality, Inclusive and Trustworthy. Every single month we have outstanding staff that work extremely hard, ensuring that these values are represented across all sectors of the Union. Because of this we introduced the Values Rewards - a £5 gift voucher to spend in any of our venues, to say thank you for your hard work. This month, we've given Values Rewards to staff members within Student Opportunities, Marketing & Communications and the Venues team - you can check them all out below! Thank you for helping us make student life better at Royal Holloway. And finally... It wouldn't be a Christmas staff email without a picture of our permanent staff members working the Student Staff Party! Although we can see how working the bar shift clearly made them a bit delirious... |
