Exciting New Courses Offer High Tech, Innovation Focus
Every semester brings new classes and ideas to UMSoA and this year is no exception. Exciting new offerings this fall are tech and innovation heavy, focusing on design thinking, the Internet of Things, smart cities and 3D facade fabrication.

Visiting professor Vicente Guallart, most recently the top architect for the city of Barcelona, will teach a course on Reinventing American Districts with Li Yi. Barcelona was recently named the "Smartest City in the World" and Guallart's work was key to that. Working with Yi, students will focus on making the Miami Design District a pilot project to rethink how American districts can transform to produce the resources they demand, to become self-sufficient. Students will also explore making their self-sufficient city more livable and humanized, according to Yi. Fifth-year student Ahmed Jawadt signed up for the course because he really enjoys the Miami Design District and the technology it offers. Read More.
