FEATURED ACTION GUIDE

How do local governments improve health and community well-being?

Our most popular action guide is back in the spotlight. With growing interest in the Healthy Communities movement and relevant resolutions proposed at this year's UBCM Convention, it's a great time to revisit this foundational guide. This guide offers background information and resources about policies and partnerships and is a great building block for local government elected officials. Get the guide.

A sneak peak of BC Healthy Communities' logo

BC Healthy Communities will look a little different when you see us next. We're unveiling our new logo at the UBCM Convention Trade Show, but the graphic to your left is a special sneak peek. To celebrate the logo launch, we'll be giving away some great prizes and gifts at the Trade Show, and hosting a giant game of Local Government MadLibs. If you're attending the UBCM Convention, stop by and say hello! Our booth is located right across from the Delegates' Lounge.

Over 10 years, Northern Health has supported 868 healthy community projects with over $2.5 million in funding. Northern Health's grants are unique in that they are directed by individual communities' needs, rather than by the health authority's requirements. The next round of IMAGINE Grants are currently open for application until September 30. Read on for more information.

Evaluation demonstrates success of Oliver's Food Security Plan

"Without evaluation, it is hard to know whether your plan is working and whether you are meeting your objectives."

The team behind Oliver's Edible Pathways project knew the importance of having a strong evaluation framework for the program, so they collaborated with BC Healthy Communities to create a logic model that would help them decide what kind of data to track. See the full story.
