UK: China travel restrictionsFrom November 7, 2020, China will require all incoming passengers to present a negative COVID IgM antibody test, in addition to their negative nucleic acid test result, before boarding a direct flight to China. The test results will need to have been obtained within 48 hours before departure (not the present 72 hours) and a green QR health code will also need to be presented. This very tight turnaround may make it difficult to travel to China from the UK, with obvious consequences for any Chinese pupils planning to go home at Christmas. Please click here for further information from the Chinese Embassy. Scotland: updated school guidance (courtesy of SCIS)The Scottish Government has updated its school guidance here. It includes the recommendation that in local authority areas in Levels 3 and 4, pupils in the senior phase – S4-6 – and their teachers should wear face coverings in classrooms, as well as when they are moving around the school and in communal areas. This is non-statutory guidance that "should also be used by grant-aided schools and independent schools to support their recovery efforts." The residential guidance has also been updated here. The associated guidance on risks in schools has a section on PPE/face coverings which can be found here. This includes the following on school areas:
There is further technical guidance from the Advisory Sub-Group which can be read here. England: A message from DHSC / DFEAs you prepare to return on Monday, please be reminded that boarding schools should not request evidence of negative test results or other medical evidence before admitting children or welcoming them back after a period of self-isolation.
