October Webinar: Automated Roving Accelerometer Impact Test

Join Mark Richardson, President and CEO of Vibrant on Thursday October 27th at 10am MT for "Automated Roving Accelerometer Impact Test"

In this month’s Webinar, some of little known features of ME’scope will be used to perform a roving accelerometer impact test of the Jimbeam. This type of test will yield 3D ODS’s and mode shapes at each point where data is acquired with a tri-axial accelerometer.  It can be performed on any structure (small or large) where an impact hammer will adequately excite the modes of interest. All that is required is;

  • An impact hammer instrumented with a load cell
  • A tri-axial accelerometer
  • A four-channel data acquisition front end
  • And of course ME’scope

First, point icons will be used on the Jimbeam to show how the tri-axial accelerometer should be mounted at each test point. Next, Measurement Sets will be used in the ME’scope acquisition window to define the measurement for each impact on the structure. Finally, only six points on the top plate will be tested and a set of FEA mode shapes for the Jimbeam will be used to define the EMA mode shapes for all of the unmeasured points of the structure. Scripts & Hotkeys will be used to automate the entire process; acquisition, curve fitting, and mode shape animation.
