Pain management program for Mandarin speaking people
The Diversity Health Service in association with the St George Pain Management Clinic and ACI will be running a group pain management program for Chinese speaking people living in south eastern Sydney. The group aims to teach self-management strategies for people with low to moderate distress from chronic pain who would benefit from learning in a group environment with people from a similar cultural background. Fellowship to increase capacity of primary care to manage pharmaceutical opioid dependence
CESPHN would like to congratulate our Drug and Alcohol Advisory Committee member, Dr Suzanne Nielsen, on recently receiving a Translating Research into Practice (TRIP) Fellowship from the National Health and Medical Research Council, around enhancing the identification and treatment of pharmaceutical opioid dependence in primary care settings. Dr Nielsen seeks to increase the capacity of primary care to better respond to pharmaceutical opioid dependence and is interested in hearing from primary care providers to understand how they can be supported to do this. New online resources to provide evidence-based palliative care support for older Australians
In a continuing effort to ensure Australia remains one of the leading providers of evidence-based support for palliative care in aged care a new resource called palliAGED has been funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and is being developed by CareSearch. palliAGED
has a number of apps and evidence resources on a range of care and service topics available for use, as well as a companion page that highlights how the workforce can use this evidence in their practice with links to tools and resources. Click here

BreastScreen NSW Mobile Van is coming to Redfern in June - Two weeks only!
The BreastScreen NSW Mobile Van will be in Redfern for two weeks during June. All women aged over 40 years are welcome to attend. The service specifically targets women aged 50 to 74 as the majority of breast cancers occur in women aged over 50 years. Regular mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when treatment is likely to be most successful. Where: Chalmers St, in front of Park Cafe (opposite Woolworths)

Inner West GPs – Invitation to participate in a brief interview about HealthPathways Sydney
The HealthPathways Sydney program is currently undergoing a series of evaluation studies coordinated by Sydney Local Health District and the Menzies Centre for Health Policy. CESPHN is assisting the Menzies Centre in recruiting GPs for “The HealthPathways Sydney GP Perspective Study” which aims to explore when, how, and why or why not GPs use HealthPathways Sydney. GP participants will be interviewed about their experience and opinions of HealthPathways Sydney. This is open to any GP working in the SLHD catchment - even if you don’t use HealthPathways Sydney! It’s just a single, brief interview (in your practice setting at a convenient time to you), and you will be remunerated $120.
