PIP Conference Speakers: Proposals Due May 31

We are just six days away from the deadline for submitting proposals to be a presenter at the 2016 Partners in Prevention Conference. Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your work and contribute to our community of prevention professionals. Do you know a skilled presenter with knowledge and insights in child welfare; social, emotional and cognitive development; parenting; juvenile justice or prosocial adolescent development? Spread the word now before it’s too late. Hosted by the Prevention and Early Intervention Division of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, PIP is the largest annual gathering of prevention and early intervention specialists and aligned professionals in Texas. Our 2016 theme — Investing with Purpose — highlights both the need for and movement toward collective and coordinated investments of time, talent and financial resources in Texas children, families and communities.


The 2016 conference will be held in Austin September 28-30. More information, including the speaker application form, is available on the PEI website. Proposals are due May 31. 

 

Celebrating Fatherhood Conference in Hays County

You're invited to join Community Action, Inc. in Hays County for their Celebrating Fatherhood Conference Saturday, May 28. The conference is open to fathers, father figures and men of all ages and from all areas. The purpose of the conference is to celebrate fathers and to emphasize the importance of positive male role models. Father’s help create an environment where their children can grow and reach their full potential. When fathers are actively involved in the lives of their children, the children achieve better outcome in all areas of life. For information on the fatherhood conference, click here.  

Family Day in Harris County


Texas Children's Health Plan (TCHP) recently hosted Family Day at the Houston Children's Museum. The diaper derby crawlers enjoyed the day with their families and nurse home visitors. TCHP is a Nurse-Family Partnership program site and periodically plans field trips for families to bond with their children and other parents. Adrian McKinney, Nurse Manager, says, “Events such as Family Day encourage program participants to continue building healthy relationships with their child and provides an opportunity to interact with other moms and dads.” For more information about TCHP, click here and search for Nurse-Family Partnership.
