LAKESIDE NEWS FROM THE SPIRES

A NOTE FROM OUR TEAM

Greetings!

I am sure this note finds you at home, wondering what’s next.   We all are.  However, “we do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is going.  What we do need to do is recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by our present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith and hope.” (Thomas Merton)

The silver lining is the free time this will allow for you to go through those closets and kitchen cabinets and simplify.  Or maybe you will now have time to finish that novel you have been wanting to read.  I highly recommend binge watching Downton Abbey or another favorite series.

As always, we are here for you!  Please call, text or email if you have questions, concerns or need some delicious cookies delivered to brighten your day.  We are a community and communities stand together during the good times as well as the challenging ones.

Fondly,

Laurie Steber

Who Decides if a CCRC Resident Needs a Higher Level of Care?

CCRCs provide residents who are living independently today with access to a full spectrum of care services that may be necessary in the future, including assisted living, memory care, and/or skilled nursing care. But this leads to a couple of questions from prospective residents: “Who actually decides if and when it is necessary for a resident to move to a higher level of care, and what is the process?”

Senior Living Continues the Fight Against COVID-19
By Brad Breeding of myLifeSite

While COVID-19 is a new and different virus, which appears to be much more serious among older adults in particular, the precautions to prevent community spread are not too different from these other highly contagious illnesses. These protocols are exercised with greater intensity/frequency during a pandemic situation like this, however.

TV Shows
We thought it might be fun to take a Spires poll and find out what shows, podcasts and movies we're watching at home! This month, take a peek at the shows we're watching now!

Jill Trapp - Sales Counselor

  1. West Wing (Netflix) - Just started re-binge watching the entire series because it is the best show ever made (also where learned everything I know about politics and began to aspire to be Press Secretary).
  2. Parks and Rec (Netflix) - Also re-binging because I need to laugh as much as possible.
  3. Good Girls (Netflix and new episodes on NBC) - It has it all - bad boy with neck tattoos, counterfeit money and moms trying to not go crazy - while going absolutely crazy.  But for their family.

Monika Lawrence - Marketing Director

  1. Longmire (Netflix) – Nothing like an intelligent cowboy/sheriff full of integrity to watch over you.

  2. Call the Midwife (Netflix) – Wonderful glimpse at medical care in the late 50’s and 60’s.

  3. The Andy Griffith Show (Netflix) – One of the best shows to have ever been created.  Andy Taylor, you are the best.

Logan Yerbey - Marketing Coordinator

  1. The Expanse (Amazon Prime) - What happens when humans figure out there's other lifeforms???? - it's probably the most realistic outer space show I've ever seen. Great books too!
  2. Galavant (Netflix) - Do you like musicals? How about comedies? What about a musical comedy set in medieval times???
  3. Great News (Netflix) - A workplace comedy about a woman working on a local news channel when her mother is hired as an unpaid intern!
