Philanthropic News
It was just over a year ago that we had our first annual philanthropy event for the American Red Cross: Dog Days! Besides raising money for our national philanthropy, Dog Days aims to serve stressed out and overworked students before finals week. It was pretty clear that there doesn’t exist a better combination than Delta Sigs and Dogs so
our chapter was thrilled to put on our second annual Dog Days event on April 23rd.
Through a combination of real dogs, grilled hot dogs, the wellness center, and a two man jousting inflatable, our chapter was ready to relieve stress for all in attendance. As our philanthropy events chairman, I set out to reach one of our chapter's short term goals: raise over 1000$ for the Red Cross. Luckily I didn't have to do it alone. By the time the day of the event came, our brothers rose to the occasion and set up shop on the South Oval. The weather wasn’t perfect, but we managed to avoid the rain and still hoped for decent attendance.
Throughout the day we had 9 different therapy and guide dogs volunteer their time! When it was all said and done, we waited patiently as the money in the cash box was counted. We are thrilled to have reached our goal and raise just over $1000 for the American Red Cross!
