Click here Denver Ave Rehabilitation CompleteConstruction is complete on downtown Tulsa's Denver Ave rehabilitation project from 13th St to 18th St, except for the installation of light poles. This project improves walkability from the downtown area to the RiverParks trail system while providing a smooth roadway surface for vehicles and bicyclists. GUY's design replaced dilapidated pavement and aging waterlines, provided ADA-compliant pedestrian access routes (PAR), and replaced the traffic signal at 15th St with ADA-compliant pedestrian signals. A construction phasing plan was used to maintain limited pedestrian and vehicular access during construction. This project required fitting a 57'- 4" typical section (roadway + sidewalks) in a 60' right of way. Additional challenges included
To address these challenges, GUY used varying cross-slopes on the 4-lane roadway to allow the curb elevations to relate more closely to the elevation of the surrounding ground. The tops of curbs were not always the same at any given location along the road. ADA-compliant driveway details transitioned sidewalks to the level of the drive while providing a means for turning vehicles to access the drive without “jumping” the curb. Another highly detailed design adhering to roadway, drainage, and ADA requirements. Success!
