INSPIRED BY A FRIDAY NIGHT SALONThe "Filler"By Navya Vasireddy During the Friday Night
Salon: Fill Your Sugar Jar & Nurture Your Creativity, I recalled Yasmine Cheyenne saying that when you're in the mood to write, take advantage of that time—which is exactly what I did! I wrote the first draft of this piece in about two sittings, and when I finished, I was proud of myself, especially for writing in a genre in which I have little experience.
INSPIRED BY A PARTNER WORKSHOP WITH NBCUKawtagain ShoreBy Dolores Camilla Haze This piece originated in our "Create Your Own Holiday" workshop with NBCU. For the most part, holidays are a way to celebrate community and culture. I wanted to find a way to mold this celebratory energy into something more intimate. My work reflects a "personal" holiday akin to a coming-of-age ritual like a bar mitzvah or a quinceañera.
INSPIRED BY A FICTION WORKSHOPThe Farmhouse FrightBy Victoria Gao After attending a workshop about horror
fiction, I became inspired to write my own horror story. This piece is an attempt to experiment with that genre. I plan to polish the draft and submit it to publications in the future!
