Gift-Giving

By Mentee Alum Alexus Lee

I love gift-giving, especially handmade gifts made from material that my mother has saved. It allows me to be creative, but with some sort of direction.

Three Poets Meet the Moment

Mentees Ariel Zhang, Asma Al-Masyabi, and Megumi Jindo were all honored by ruth weiss Foundation in their annual poetry contest. Megumi was named a Youth Poet finalist, Ariel won the Young Poets Award, and Asma won the Emerging Poet Award. INSPIRED BY A FRIDAY NIGHT SALON

The "Filler"

By Navya Vasireddy

During the Friday Night Salon: Fill Your Sugar Jar & Nurture Your Creativity, I recalled Yasmine Cheyenne saying that when you're in the mood to write, take advantage of that time—which is exactly what I did! INSPIRED BY A PARTNER WORKSHOP WITH NBCU

Kawtagain Shore

By Dolores Camilla Haze

This piece originated in our "Create Your Own Holiday" workshop with NBCU. For the most part, holidays are a way to celebrate community and culture. INSPIRED BY A FICTION WORKSHOP

The Farmhouse Fright

By Victoria Gao

After attending a workshop about horror fiction, I became inspired to write my own horror story. This piece is an attempt to experiment with that genre. I plan to polish the draft and submit it to publications in the future!
