Dear Parents, The Festive Season is upon us. With October and Halloween past, we are now looking at November and (American) Thanksgiving as well as December with its myriad cultural and religious events and holidays. As always, QSI will be staging many performances in the next few weeks, so please stay tuned for announcements. Please take note that next Friday, November 17, there will be NO school. Staff will engage in professional development activities that day. At QSI, providing meaningful opportunities for our staff to grow professionally is pivotal to who we are. As a team of educators, we continuously strive to enhance the quality of instruction and learning, and to this end, all staff engage in diverse growth opportunities and closely collaborate with each other to make sure that we continue to provide the best educational services in Chengdu. I trust you will enjoy reading this edition of our newsletter, and I hope everyone had a peaceful and relaxing weekend. Dr. James W. Pilton, Ed.D. Dear Parents, Our lobbies are very quickly being transformed by both the PSG and students alike into winter wonderlands! On Friday, the primary school was visited by Ms. Elaine, a storyteller from the United States. She had all students from 4YOs up riveted by her performances and tales. You can see a few photos below. Additionally, in this addition of the newsletter, we have offered a larger than usual glimpse as to what is taking place every day here at QSI. This week, on Wednesday and Thursday, Global Doctors will be visiting, offering free health screenings to our 2-10YO classes. Afterwards, all medical information collected about your children will be sent home to you. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this! I wish you a beautiful start to your week! Sincerely, Fabulous QSI Parents, So many things coming to a head right now in the MS/Sec building. World History students are presenting their projects on important inventions. Science Fair is in the final days before the Nov 21st fair. Our Week without Walls trip is all set, and all that’s left to do is start packing. The 13YO bonding trip has come and gone and was a huge success. Middle schoolers enjoyed a storyteller performance last Friday, and later that day, secondary students participated in a storytelling workshop. Also on Friday, a representative from Intel presented to our middle and secondary science students about maximizing their fair presentations. I would like to express my appreciation for our wonderful PSG. They are doing too many great things to even list here, and every project has been terrific. If you are not yet helping with PSG, don’t be shy. Get involved. (psg@chengdu.qsi.org) One way to lend a hand is to offer to judge our upcoming Science Fair. Lastly, don’t forget to mark our upcoming winter performances in your calendars! Please find the dates and times below. Sincerely, Celebrating National Sandwich DayNational Sandwich Day was Friday, November 3rd and Curtis of the 11 year old class brought in sandwiches for his whole class to honor the day. |
