This ASMS Direct is to let you know what’s on the agenda for the second round of Joint Consultation Committee (JCC) meetings for 2020.

JCC meetings give you the chance to speak directly with your Chief Executive, CMO and your ASMS colleagues and representatives. We normally have a one-hour pre-meeting, followed by a two-hour JCC meeting. You can come to either or both. All the round two JCC meetings will be held via Zoom so please tune in if you can. Links will be sent closer to each meeting.

These meetings are a good chance to put issues that matter to you and your colleagues in front of the chief executive and senior managers. We always discuss things that are topical and relevant to your work as a SMO/SDO and we greatly value your input at these meetings. It’s especially important for ASMS to have representation from a wide range of specialties at your DHB.

Agenda items for this round are:

  1. The new ASMS DHB MECA – we’ve created a short video with the main changes that you can watch here.

  2. Discussion on our new publication: The role of the CD, a practical guide

  3. Pandemic preparedness, what have we learned?

  4. Occupational Health and Public Health capacity

  5. Unmet need and sustainable work during return to post-Covid business as usual – what’s the plan?

  6. DHB infrastructure, including new and planned builds, funding caps, and suitability

  7. Consultation, particularly in relation to Covid-19 initiatives

  8. Local issues at your DHB – to be advised

JCC dates are available on the events page of the ASMS website. Please put these in your diary.

The agenda, diary invites and a text message will be sent out before each JCC meeting. This will also include a link to the Zoom meeting. Please email our Membership team if you would like to register to receive these.

Please contact your local branch officers or your industrial officer if you have items for discussion at the pre-meeting, or at the meeting with management. I look forward to seeing you there.

Did you know your DHB now has to ensure you have safe access to parking at night time?

The new MECA introduces additional wording in Clause 21.6, around car parking at night.

It makes it clear that safe parking or suitable arrangements to ensure safe access to and from your vehicle will be arranged. It covers SMOs who have been called in, have to work late, or are finishing an evening or night shift. Read more here.
