FEBRUARY IMMUNISATION UPDATE

IMMUNISATION NEWS THIS FEBRUARY

  1. Free flu shots for children aged six months to under five years - NSW Health have announced that from April 2018 all NSW children aged six months to under five years of age will be offered free influenza vaccination.
  2. Meningococcal ACWY to be added to NIP - The Australian Government has recently announced that quad-strain Meningococcal ACWY vaccine will be added to the National Immunisation Program.
  3. Vaccine storage self-audit - Has your practice completed the compulsory Strive for 5 annual vaccine storage self-audit in the last 12 months?
  4. HPV vaccination changes in 2018 - The National Immunisation Program will adopt a new HPV vaccine in 2018, which protects against nine types of HPV in a two-dose schedule.
  5. AusVaxSafety vaccine safety surveillance system - General practices are encouraged to enrol in SmartVax, a free automated vaccine safety software monitoring system.
