FAWLTY TOWERS LIVE!

"Hello from the ridiculous world of Fawlty Towers Live!!

AJ (Andrew Johnston) and Aimee (Aimee Horne) here - we just wanted to 'check-in' and let you know that despite the best efforts of a certain moustachioed hotel owner, we're still very much alive and well... just. Rehearsals, like the show, have been farcically manic. Opening night was incredible and if the standing ovation was anything to go by, we have a cracking show on our hands!!!

For the last week, we have had a very special guest staying with us and helping to tweak the show. He's a rather tall chap with quite the knack for comic timing and a disconcerting familiarity with the script. Mr Cleese or 'JC' (the miracle worker of the comedy world) is the loveliest, most generous and supportive lactose and gluten-free guy around.  He wheezes adorably at his own jokes, is full of ideas and always eager to hear from anyone else.  Rehearsals with him have essentially been an unforgettable 10 day masterclass in comedy. The best part? He seems genuinely delighted with the show."

Fawlty Towers Live is playing at the Roslyn Packer Theatre, book tickets here and whatever you do... DON'T MENTION THE WAR!!

Review from SMH 22/8/16: "Aimee Horne's Polly Shearman is an eerily perfect physical and vocal impersonation. You could swear it was the young Connie Booth on stage..."

*AJ (Andrew Johnston) is also a fresh addition to RMK Voices listen to his cracking new demo

GORAN D. KLEUT

From The Great Gatsby, the new Alien movie (Alien Covenant) and now Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge (with a little Pirates of the Carribean in between)... it's been quite a ride for Goran  D. Kleut... Goran shares his experiences here:

"It's been a privilege over the past few years to work for some of the top directors in the business doing some the top jobs in the world. Over the past year I have played a range of characters from a soldier to a pirate or a demon or even an iconic alien. I've just worked back to back for two academy award winning directors, Mel Gibson and Ridley Scott and have walked away with invaluable elite experience. It's been a dream run. Sharing screen time and improvising with Leonardo Di Caprio while Baz Luhrmann is your boss, to staring down Gerard Butler and forming a scene with him and Alex Proyas, it's been a lot of hard work finally starting to pay off with some wonderful moments.

My recent highlight has definitely been lying in a festering foxhole, covered in dirt and filth with blood coming out every crack, constructing a harrowing near death scene with Andrew Garfield at the tail end of a shooting day. We had little time on the ridge to make it perfect and it had to come off in two takes, or less. Andrew and I decided to just go for it and see what we could pull out and by the time Mel called cut a hush fell over the crew and we knew we had done something special. Later that night Mel sent me a text to say that he really loved the scene and it had made him teary and emotional. It was a day at the office which I won't forget in hurry.
