Website Tech Tips: How Do I Register for a Book Club?
Do you love to reading and talking about books? Connect with one of our Book Clubs! Meetings are held monthly from September to June at several locations. NEW...for the 2017-18 Book Club season, you will need to register for each date you wish to attend throughout the year via our online events calendar. Here's how: 1) Visit the Book Club webpage
of our website to view the 2017-18 Book Club Schedule.
2) Once you have decided on the book club you wish to attend, hover the cursor over the “Services” tab of our website and then, click on “Events Calendar”
3) Find the date corresponding to the Book Club you have chosen. Click on the title. Note: You can also scroll down the events calendar webpage to find the Book Club event in the Events List, and then click on the title.
4) Within the selected date and event, click the “Register Online” button at the bottom of the page.
5) Use the arrows to select how many people you are registering. When done, click “Continue.”
6) Enter your first and last name followed by your email addresses. Repeat for any other participants you are registering. When done, click “Continue.”
7) A success message should appear to confirm registration and you will receive an email confirmation as well.
8) Repeat this process for each book club date you are able to attend until June.
Library Awarded Sifton Family Foundation Grant
The Guelph Public Library recently received a $26,031 grant from the Sifton Family Foundation which allowed us to purchase assistive technology equipment for use by people with low-vision, blindness, physical and learning disabilities. New assistive equipment available to the public includes:
· Desktop Video Magnifier
· Portable Video Magnifiers
· Compact Portable Video Magnifiers
· Expert Mouse Trackballs
· Yellow Large Print Keyboards
· ZoomText screen magnification and screen reading
software for public computers
· Victor Reader DAISY Audio Players (available for loan)
· Victor Reader Stream Audio Players (available for loan) A big thank you to Sifton Family Foundation for their support and kindness.

Summer break is halfway over. Are you looking for something to do with the kids to beat the heat or to enjoy during a rainy day? Here are just a few of the fun things to try (in no particular order) at your neighbourhood library: 1. Read a non-fiction book and learn a new skill or hobby.
2. Browse our French collection (which includes books on CD and DVDs).
3. Download an eBook or eAudiobook.
4. Borrow a board game from the Main Library - Kid's Department.
5. Borrow a video game for PS4, Xbox One, or Wii U.
6. Learn a language using Little Pim or Muzzy.
7. Enjoy one of our daily summer programs.
8. Join the summer reading club for extra fun and prizes.
9. Stream movies, comics or music via Hoopla.
10. Mess around with puzzles, toys, and colouring sheets at any location. Did we mention that everything is free? Have a great summer and be sure to enjoy some library fun!
