A few words from Tim...

I'm heading to Interplas/TCT this week with an almost forgotten sense of excitment! Let's face it, it'll certainly be the biggest crowd of people I've seen in a while!

I'm expecting to see big changes in the industry as a result of the global changes we've endured recently.

We're not exhibiting ourselves this year due to our premises move (it may well have tipped me over the edge!) but hopefully we'll be back next year.  On the plus side I am really looking forward to being able to wander at my leisure rather than racing around feeling guilty that I should be back on our own stand!

So, what am I hoping for? Time for a coffee and the chance to catch up face to face... machinery and lots of it... but maybe most importantly the chance to look for new suppliers who might be able to help support our ever developing capabilities.

One area we are focusing on and expanding currently, is the ability to produce tooling quickly for projects so we can provide moulded parts in very short leadtimes. With current climate uncertainties, pressing the button to go at the last second on a project seems to be more and more commonplace (and understandably so).

Hence our newsletter this month focus's on just that. Along with the mechanics of how we can make that happen, we highlight the importance of the people and their relationship to each other who ultimately are the key to it all.

Thank you for reading and I hope you find the articles interesting.

Development, Prototype & Bridge Tooling - which do I need to get moulded parts fast?

This type of tooling will usually have lead-times that vary from a few days to 3 - 4 weeks depending on complexity, size and sophistication.

Typically, these processes will seek to automate, standardise and minimise queuing time to achieve the delivery.

Toolmaker & Moulder

The importance of the relationship between moulder and toolmaker

It was Steve Jobs who said, “Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.”

Never is this more so than in the world of tooling and moulding. The ability to work together, discuss potential issues ahead of the tool being made is critical to parts being moulded successfully first time.
