After the success of our last PD day, we have taken on board your feedback and will be covering the following topics:

Following Directions

Why do so many children struggle to follow directions in the classroom? What should we expect children to be able to do, and how do we help them to get there?

Topics covered include:

  • What we expect from students (auditory short term memory)
  • What language skills are needed to follow directions
  • How to break down directions
  • Using visual cues
  • Games and resources for practising following directions
  • Resources for evaluating the way that you give directions

Anxiety and Depression in Children

Teachers will gain knowledge regarding the symptoms displayed by children with depression and /or anxiety.

Additionally an understanding of treatment, diagnosis, related risk factors and practical strategies to support these students within the school. A discussion around suicide/self harm prevention and support will be covered.

Maths games for the classroom

Maths can be so much fun for you and your students with the inclusion of some games in the classroom. Maths games can be easily devised using playing cards, counters, die and boards. You will have a chance to play and learn maths games that your students can use to revise key maths skills. We have done the hard work for you!

You will learn strategies and receive resources related to:

  • How much practise is required to master maths facts? (hint – a lot!)
  • The benefit of playing games for maths mastery
  • Common classroom materials you already have to build a maths games kit
  • Card, dice and board games to build mastery in the four operations for both primary and high school – Let’s Play!
