Reds Global News Letter First Quarter 2020 MESSAGESA message from Damien Laforest We are all being inundated with news, updates, stats, theories.....it is hard to escape the headlines. Yes, the current landscape is very challenging and presents uncertainty. We have had projects delayed, altered and even cancelled. In spite of this, we are very lucky, construction sites are open, so let's keep it that way by doing our part in social distancing, hygiene and adhering to the changing laws. There will be some bumps in the road, and each of us will have to adapt, but our future is bright and we will get through this. 13th March 2020 was an important milestone in Reds Global's journey. We installed our new Favco M390D on a Meriton site in Lidcombe. This also represented the 7th crane erected on this staged development. We are proud to have this machine in our fleet to meet the needs of our customers and demonstrate our commitment to growth and equipment diversity. We undertook plenty of work in the first quarter of 2020:
Bases are now installed at our new project in Melbourne for John Holland Group at the Victorian Heart Hospital that requires three cranes. We look forward to working with JHG and their project team when the first crane goes up next month. Reds Global is heading back to ACT. When I started with Reds Global almost 10 years ago, Morris Property Group was our biggest client. We have not worked with MPG for a few years now, so it is fantastic news to be awarded MPG's One City Hill project. This is a two crane hammerhead project with a long duration. Great to be back with a client like MPG and great to be back in Canberra. I look forward to sharing some other project wins in the near future and hope you all have an enjoyable Easter break. Take care, Damien. HEALTH AND SAFETY Good afternoon Ladies and Gents, Well what an eventful start to 2020!!!! I will not make this newsletter about Covid19 as we are all aware of this virus and the impact its having on all our lives. So please stay safe and together we will all get through these troubled waters. Since the last newsletter we have been very busy with a number of critical works being undertaken. Once again a big thankyou to the site crews finishing up on jobs and good luck on the next adventure. The feedback from various site managers regarding all of our site crews has been fantastic so credit to you all. Hoardings Ensure when landing or lifting loads from hoardings, that there is adequate room for the load to be landed and that the load can not make contact with the hoarding. Before a load is landed or lifted, ensure the hoarding panels are secure and in place. Ensure there is a clear access around loads being landed on hoarding. Weekly paperwork It is each site's responsibility to ensure that each day the crane daily check, lifting gear registers and generator checks are complete, the crane daily check is sent to the office daily to, maintenance@redsglobal.com and that all paperwork is sent into the office at weeks end to admin@redsglobal.com All new lifting gear must be added to the sites register and inspected before being put into use. Toolbox talks need to have more content added into them. A number of site safety have mentioned to me the lack of content and the generic 3 – 4 lines isn’t sufficient. Access Maintaining safe access to the crane base and surrounds is extremely important. If the site is not providing the appropriate access and means of access, then this should be noted on the daily checklist, contact the office and rectified with site. Crane pack ups When shutting down the crane for the day you must ensure:
It is great seeing Darryl Mann back up and working on suitable duties in Somersby after a terrible accident on site a couple of months ago. He is showing great commitment and Reds Global spirit. He is a great character and i know he is missed out on site so hopefully you should all be seeing him soon. I ask you all to be mindful when carrying out your daily duties and to concentrate on what you are doing. If your mind isn't on the job for personal reasons please speak up we are all one team and here to help and no judgment will be given. We want you all to be fighting fit both physically and mentally. Thank you James
WEEKLY PAPERWORK - There is nothing more refreshing than people working together, like a team and like one! Paperwork in 2020 has been so much better and I can't thank you all enough for making the effort to send through your daily (and weekly) paperwork that is accurate, informative and on time. You have all shown improvement, however i would like to send a shout out to Harry Kalodikis and Martin Qaqish on their outstanding delivery of daily paperwork. Due to an injury, Khaled Dennaoui had to enjoy a couple of weeks in the office with me. Thank you to for your help in assisting the guys out on site with the PDF scanner, this has been very helpful and a great success in delivering the paperwork correctly to us. Please ensure your daily paperwork is emailed first thing every morning to maintenance@redsglobal.com and your weekly paperwork is emailed first thing on a Monday morning to admin@redsglobal.com. We are also requesting your generator reports to be sent through every day. Send all files as a PDF. Tiny Scanner is a simple and free application on Apple and Android. It is a time consuming process to receive photos which slows down the payroll process. A very Happy Easter to you and your family Thank you Lisa Message from Ben Michael Well, that was certainly getting thrown in the deep end! It’s been an absolute pleasure to be given the opportunity as the Reds Global allocator. I love a challenge and this year has not been shy of throwing us all a few. A bit about me for those who don’t know me very well. I started with Reds Global way back in 2009. Jason, Shane Callanan and I headed down to Canberra to kick off a new project for Morris Property Group. We stayed at my parent’s farm just east of Canberra. Middle of winter! There was not enough room to stay in the main house for everyone, so Shane and Jason stayed in the shearing shed. I will never forget Jason and Shane huddled around a very small campfire outside of the shed, beanies and snow jackets on, teeth chattering in the freezing conditions and Jason bellowing “How good is this”. The commitment was real and character building to say the least. I stayed on with Reds for about 7 years until I decided to delve into entrepreneurship. Software development initially and then fell into IT recruitment but there was always something missing. Corporate office life was not for me and I was fortunate enough to be given another opportunity back at Reds Global in 2018. I have always admired the passion across the entire business that drives Reds Global to be the best, from front line crews, the rigging teams, the yard team and the management team. The unwavering commitment to succeed is humbling and makes me want to be part of it every single day. I get to speak with our clients on a daily basis and I am pleased to say we have overwhelmingly positive feedback. Our clients love the way Reds Global crews “buy into” each individual build, we own it, it’s our careers and we are proud of what we do. It’s those little things we do on a daily basis that makes their jobs much easier and in return the simple decision of taking Reds Global to the next project. Have a great Easter Break everyone and don’t forget, you can always Zoom Regards, Ben Michael. GET TO KNOW THE CREW Introducing Reece Bell - Position: Boilermaker
Welcome Tash to the team My name is Tash. Been working in construction for 3 years and during that time I have had the chance to chase the crane hook and have been addicted ever since. Reds Global have given me this great opportunity and I’m running with it, chasing the Dream. The goal is to be crane operator one day, I have the patience to wait, as I have some ground work to do first. Very happy and proud to work and represent Reds Global Cranes. Looking forward to new learnings, mastering the work and meeting the rest of the Reds Team. APRIL BIRTHDAY Sending wishes to everyone who celebrated a Birthday over the last 4 months. Happy Birthday!! We would like to send a BIG Happy Birthday to Jason Redman for the 13th April, trust your day and year ahead will be as amazing as you are! Happy Birthday!! BABIES ON BOARD Congratulations to Anthony Tsiailis and his wife on their gorgeous little bundle of joy, welcome Theodore. Wishing you all the love and happiness in the world. R U OK Please remember to ask your fellow co worker every now and again, if they are ok? Mental illness is a huge issue and checking in with someone, goes a long way... Message from Debbie Carter Tony came home last Thursday. We are both exhausted and just trying to adjust to our new life. Tony tires easily and is still having physio, speech and occupational therapy that now come to the house. We have been extremely busy organising and meeting all the new people that will continue on with his recovery at home. It’s still a big mental and physical challenge for Tony but as always he handles it with a cheeky and happy attitude. He does have days where it is all too much and he wants to give up and can't understand "why him", but I am there to support and comfort him with everything that I have. Together we are fighting every day to make his recovery the best we can. He is in a wheelchair and can walk with assistance and has a walking frame which he can use also with assistance. The physio has told us that eventually he might be able to walk with the frame by himself and eventually no frame with extensive physio and giving him time of up to 6 to 12 months recovery. He has challenges with his speech and swallowing and has to be really carefully. The pneumonia is still very much present and sleeping elevated does help. At least he is eating small cut up meals and milky thick fluids, which they told us he would never do. So a massive accomplishment. Thank you, Deb. There is light at the end of the tunnel, you have all the love and support from Reds Global and we are thinking of you everyday. We love you both! SPORTS Gut Busters Challenge - Train insane or stay the same Towards the end of last year we arranged a personal trainer to join us at the Reds Global yard to encourage our staff to be mind full of exercise, encourage healthy eating, well being and breathing. The challenge was enjoyed after hours, the teams commitment and moral was refreshing after a day in the office or yard. It's an honour and privilege to work for a director who values health and well being. Thank you to Jason for giving the office and yard staff this opportunity to live a healthy and fit life. Thank you to everyone who committed to this challenge and focused on the success of the end goal REDS GLOBAL QUIZ MASTERS Challenge yourself and lets see how many answers you can get correct.
