Keeping families together this week means sharing what goes on in the minds of some of our Open Arms kiddos...

More Than Just a Cute Face

Your  Instagram or Facebook feed may be flooded with the many adorable faces of our kiddos here at Open Arms, but what those pictures don't capture is what goes on in those intelligent yet equally mischievous minds.  We took three children willing to open up and answer some questions to give us, and you, a little sneak peek of what they are thinking, feeling, and dreaming.

Nataly

What is your favorite thing to do in La Mision?

Come to the daycare, and EATING!!!

If you could be anything you wanted, what would it be?

A psychologist. I like what they do and I could help people.

Do you think God has a plan for you? What is it?

Yes He does. I think He wants me to work in an office.

What does family mean to you?

Love and Joy.

What is your favorite meal that Mari  (OA's head cook) makes?

Cactus with chile! But actually, all the food.

What is your favorite movie?

Frozen. *starts singing Do You Want to Build a Snowman*

Are you proud of where you live?

Yes. I like living here. But I want to move to the other side. (United States)

How come?

I can get the job I want there, in an office!

What is your favorite thing about Open Arms?

I get to share my life.

What do you mean?

I get to show my house, my family, make friends. I get to show me.

Nataly is 9 years old and has two brothers (Esteban and Hector) who also attend the daycare. Her Mom owns a small stand at the beach where she sells all sorts of things to the tourists that visit.

Nataly is a smart, goal oriented young lady that we enjoy watching grow into the path God has specially created for her.

Samaria Age 6

What is your favorite thing to do in La Mision?

Playing on the slide at the daycare.

If you could be anything you wanted, what would it be?

I want to be a Veterinarian. I LOVE puppies.

Do you think God has a plan for you? What is it?

Duh! Yes He does, but I don't know what it is.

What does family mean to you?

Well they love me.

So family means love to you?

Yeah! They love me.

What is your favorite meal that Mari makes?

Rice, beans, and potatoes.

What is your favorite movie?

Annie and Frozen.

Are you proud of where you live?

Yes! I love Mexico. It is my favorite country.

What is your favorite thing about Open Arms?

I meet new people all the time, and I like that.

Samaria is 6 years old and is the daughter of Heidi & Daniel, the directors of Open Arms. She also has one little sister named Selah. Samaria is an out-going fearless leader, and a BIG help when one of our American volunteers doesn't know how to say something in Spanish. We are excited to see where her bright personality takes her!

Emilio Age 6

What is your favorite thing to do in La Mision?

Play Xbox at my house.

If you could be anything you wanted, what would it be?

Superman.

Why?

Nothing hurts him.

Do you think God has a plan for you? What is it?

To be the best player at Xbox.

What does family mean to you?

Hope.

What is your favorite meal that Mari makes for you?

Pancakes. But at home, I like Maruchan Ramen Noodles. I can eat lots of those and never get sick.

What is your favorite movie?

Fast and Furious 7

Are you proud of your country?

Yeah.

How come?

I don't know. Ask me when I'm older.

Oh ok, will you know the answer when you're older?

Yes because I'll be much smarter.

What is your favorite thing about being at Open Arms?

Playing, even if I get put in discipline a lot

Emilio is 6 years old and has several brothers who are all too old to attend the daycare. His Mother holds two jobs and works extremely hard to provide for her family.  We are blessed that she came to us,  and allowed us to be affected by Emilio's contagious smile and laugh. Working with him to find his true calling  has been extremely gratifying!
