You have until next Friday to enrol
for this year's local election
If you are a resident of the Adelaide Hills Council district and you're enrolled on the House of Assembly (State) Roll, then you are all set - you will automatically receive your voting pack in the mail. But did you know that there's a whole group of people eligible to vote in local government elections who aren't necessarily residents of the district? Maybe you fall into one of the following categories:
> You are NOT an Australian citizen, but you have been a resident at a Hills' address for at least one month;
> You are the landlord for a rateable property in the district;
> You are an organisation/business owner or occupier of a rateable property in the district;
> You are part of a group of owners or occupiers of a rateable property in the district. If so, you have equal rights to have your say on who represents you as the Adelaide Hills Council, but you must register on the Council Supplementary Roll before 5pm on Friday 10 August. (This Roll is purged on 1 January every year, so even if you have registered before, you will need to register again.) Click here for all the information about enrolling for the upcoming election, including access to downloadable forms to register on the Council Supplementary Roll.

Confused about the new dog and cat laws? The new Dogs and Cats Online (DACO) system is in place for registrations and microchip details and because of different rules with different councils, it's understandable that there could be a bit of confusion out there! Adelaide Hills Council requires dogs to be registered as per usual, with the only change being that they're registered through DACO instead of directly with us. Dog registrations are due now. We also require the details of microchipped cats to be registered on DACO (note that microchipping is now compulsory for cats by 12 weeks of age). No fee is charged for cat registration. For more details check out our dogs webpage and/or cats webpage, or you can give us a call on 08 8408 0400.
