This week has seen both the Minister and the Secretary among others fronting Senate Estimates. Minister Payne has indicated she hasn't directed any changes be made to the pending White Paper while Secretary Richardson said he is concerned at the ethics of Defence personnel jumping ship to industry within a year of leaving.

Otherwise it's been business as usual. The C-27J Spartan has been tested during air drop trials and we look at an unmanned underwater surveillance system that participated in Exercise Talisman Sabre.

A future weapon for the AWD, SM-6 has proven in recent tests that its mission can be extended to anti-ballistic missile defence, and the RAAF orders more BOL self-protection pods for Hornets - could Syria be the reason?

Rheinmetall has awarded a contract to Milspec Manufacturing for vehicle installation kits under Land 121 Phase 3B and Austal rolls out the first High Speed Support Vessel for the Omani Navy in WA.

Army also showcased a fascinating array of innovative technologies designed to improve human performance at the second annual Army Innovation Day in Canberra. Stay tuned for more on this, until then we'll be broadcasting on our usual channels, including via Twitterfacebook or LinkedIn,
