Guelph Public Library eNewsletter No Images? Click here We can build the future. Together. This year, we are asking for your help to build the future of our library and to help children in our community thrive. Gifts will support two priority areas – a new Central Library and the Rosa Rattray Early Literacy Fund – fostering a love of libraries right from the beginning and establishing lifelong learning for generations to come. “We are so thrilled to partner with the Rattray family in memory of Rosa – someone who truly believed in the power of early literacy and instilled those values within her family - and now future generations of Guelphites through her legacy. This partnership has brought valuable early literacy tools to youngsters in our community,” says Library CEO Steven Kraft. Rosa’s family shares, “Rosa instilled a love of reading and learning in all of us, and after her passing in 2016, we wanted to celebrate her life and passion by helping to continue to nurture a love of learning in local children. What better way than to join forces with the library to help kids reach their fullest potential.” Your support will help shape the stories of so many for whom the Guelph Public Library is an important and special place. Dementia is an umbrella term that describes conditions affecting memory, communication and the performance of day-to-day activities. A dementia-friendly service provider focuses on stigma reduction and the inclusion of people with dementia, helping them to feel supported by their community members whether they are at retail locations, using transportation or visiting community centres, like the library. The Alzheimer Society uses blue umbrellas to denote dementia-friendly locations. Look for the blue umbrella at all our branches, including the Bookmobile!
