There have been big improvements in the energy efficiency of some products, and your co-operation in past years means we can measure the savings to consumers and business, as well as tracking reduced carbon emissions. Energy savings from products sold last year totalled 1PJ, with a reduction in carbon emissions of 40kt CO2-e. The sales data collection period for 2018/2019 will run from 1 April to 1 August this year. An email outlining how to submit data will be sent at the beginning of April. It’s important to update us if the contact person for sales data at your company has changed or you have any questions. As an importer or manufacturer, you are required by law to provide EECA with information on your sales, imports and exports. Regulations updateReviewing or developing new Minimum Energy Performance Standards is part of EECA’s role in improving product energy efficiency in New Zealand. Here's where we are at.
Introducing Brian FitzgeraldBrian is our standards expert, working on new standards and updating standards that are an important part of many regulations and projects. EECA is a member of 23 New Zealand groups working on standards, as well as six international committees. At the moment Brian is working on a range of standards, such as lighting, hot water, space heating, commercial refrigeration and demand response. When he’s not working, Brian enjoys tramping and fishing. Here's the fishing story. "I hooked a bronze whaler shark off the north end of Kapiti. It was longer than the boat we were in. It came up to see what we were and then swam away - snapping the 120lb breaking strain fishing line like it was wool. We didn’t argue.” Brought to you by the Efficient Products Team at EECA.
