Hardiness and resilience are key components in every executive’s portfolio and as key to those who support them. We live in an ever changing, volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world, where individuals have to be ready to react to change at any moment. Today’s world is a world that is over cluttered with news, fake news and fabrication. A world where leadership and personal resilience and hardiness are paramount yet often missing; an unequal world that at times lacks direction, principles and ethics where individuals often feel alone and hence have to fall back upon their inner strength. Following on from Russell Beck's glimpse into the future our seminar on 22 June at the fabulous Deer Park Country House Hotel, nr Honiton, with Phil Sampson of Sampson Hall, will look at how we can best prepare for our brave new world personally and professionally in order to make the most out of ourselves. This seminar will look at the four key tenants of mental toughness: Confidence, Control, Challenge and Commitment and how these can be measured and developed. It will help those who attend in fulfilling their roles to the very best of their ability. A round up of recent eventsWe were able to share our successes as a Network when we co-chaired a workshop in London on 20 May for regional PA network leaders, alongside Victoria Darragh, CEO of EPAA. Reps from the Highlands to the Channel Islands gave up their Saturday to work on growing their networks, and ensuring they are sustainable going forward. Some team changes...So, my partner in crime, Rebecca Eccles, has moved on to pastures new and joined Equiniti Data as part of their Partnerships team. I want to say a big thank you to Rebecca for all her support in managing and promoting the network. Although she's just around the corner from me, and she promises she'll keep in touch - I can't help feel something of an empty nester now that my young chick is grown enough to go out on her own. I'm sure you'll join me in wishing her every success in her new career. Our fundraising co-ordinator, Liz Harris, has passed over the fundraising baton to Lynn Gillard. Liz worked incredibly hard to get our fundraising off the ground, and we thank her for all her hard work. Lynn will be looking for lots of support from our members to carry on the good works, so please do get in touch with her if you have some ideas or could offer some time/practical support at events. Watch out for our next newsletterIn the meantime, please do share this newsletter with colleagues and contacts who you think would enjoy being part of our network - or encourage them to subscribe to our updates through our website (www.exeterpanetwork.com). Take care y'all and hope to see you at an event soon! |
