Do you value and nurture difference?
A practical workshop led by Alyson Malach from Equality and Diversity UK who have produced an equality and diversity inclusion toolkit for use with museum staff, volunteers and trustees.
The WMMD toolkit can be used to help explore and explain complex issues in an accessible way and to act on the museum's duties by promoting equality, tackling discrimination and fostering good relationships between diverse groups.
Research shows that encouraging diversity helps to motivate staff, volunteers and Trustees; drive visitor numbers and increase income generation.
Using our unique collections as a way of increasing much needed income to support our museums is an obvious approach but how often have we been stopped in our tracks from using a particular image or object because of concerns over copyright? Join Kevin Gosling, CEO of the Collections Trust for this half day workshop on copyright and licensing. This is an opportunity to ask questions and to find out the answers! Andrea Mochan from the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery will speak about product development and her experience regarding e-commerce and online shops/retail. In addition Harriet Green, Shop Supervisor at the Leather Museum will also be available to talk through the buying principles used on site.
This event will be helpful to any museums wanting to find out more about using objects or images in their collections to support commercial activity.
If you have already booked a place and have questions for Kevin please could you email them to helen.johnson@staffordshire.gov.uk no later than 19th July so that we can pass them on.
If you have any queries please contact the team: wmmd@ironbridge.org.uk
