COVID-19 update
Hudson Park playground

PLAYGROUNDS OPEN Follow restrictions and check-in

While the news that the current lockdown would be extended wasn't the news anyone wanted to hear, the fact that playgrounds are now open again is a relief to many.

While this is great news, there are restrictions we all must follow when visiting playgrounds:

  • Open for children under 12 only
  • Must use QR check-in
  • Only one parent/carer can attend
  • Masks on at all times (which means no eating or drinking)

We hope to hear of further restrictions in coming weeks.

There's a lot of talk out there about the COVID-19 vaccine.

But when it comes to your health, the one talk you should have is with a doctor or pharmacist.

They can answer any questions you have and give you the information you need.

Proposed Wallan Quarry Information Session. 6.30pm Thursday 9 September

Mitchell Shire Council will host an online community information session at 6.30pm on Thursday 9 September about a proposed stone extraction quarry at 175 Northern Highway, Wallan.

The application has been ‘called-in’ by the Minister for Planning who will be the decision-maker for the application. Mitchell Shire Council continues to oppose the application due to the impact it will have on our community and surrounds.

Due to COVID restrictions, we've changed out planned face-to-face meeting to an online session to share information about the quarry planning process and take you through the next steps of getting involved should you wish to do so.

AUSTRALIA DAY AWARD NOMINATIONS OPEN

Do you know someone who deserves community recognition for their community contributions or want to celebrate achievements from some of our local groups and organisations?

Our Australia Day committee is calling for Australia Day Community Award nominations ahead of the 2022 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony.

This year, the five categories are:
1. Access and Inclusion
2. Citizen of the Year
3. Young Citizen of the Year
4. Online or Community Event of the Year
5. Community Group of the Year

Following a community survey and stakeholder consultation earlier this year, we've developed a draft Domestic Animal Management Plan for 2021-2025.

Before the draft plan is finalised, we would like input from the community to ensure that the plan reflects the community’s expectations in relation to improving dog and cat management across Mitchell Shire.

Closes: 9am, Monday 20 September.

HARLEY HAMMOND Provide input on master plan

Harley Hammond Reserve is the recreational heart of Broadford, accommodating more than 616 junior and senior members across a variety of sports.

Despite major upgrades in recent years, many of the reserve's facilities are old and in need of renewal, and others need work to bring them up to contemporary standards.

We've put together a draft Harley Hammond Reserve master plan and would like your input.

Closes: 9am, Thursday 16 September.

  • Active and healthy
  • Informed and connected
  • Safe and respectful
  • Liveable and thriving
