Much has been said about SA's 'Valley of Death' but with rising unemployment for highly skilled workers and massive debt in the aftermath of the mining/resources boom, WA's new Defence Issues Minister says the State is facing something more akin to a 'chasm' with the recent Naval Shipbuilding Plan not going even close to bridging it.

Across the Tasman the RNZN's Littoral Operations Support Capability program has been delayed with a downgrade likely and Pacific Island nations gain an Australian funded civil aerial maritime surveillance capability in the next year.

Growler's Next Generation Jammer design is ready for fabrication and testing and Tasmanian defence supplier CBG Systems lands a lucrative contract for Moonraker Antennas.

Publisher Judy Hinz reports from the recent Sunshine Coast Defence Industry Forum and the Navantia/Sage Automation joint venture will install the Integrated Platform Management System on the RAN's future AORs.
