MESSAGESA MESSAGE FROM DAMIEN LAFOREST Over the last six weeks we have been rolling through all employees on the working at heights course. For many this was a refresher but some a new ticket. The feedback has been positive especially in relation to the Milan rescue device. It takes a lot of work to organise this so thanks to Ben for seeing that through. For everyone who received a new ticket please upload onto Employment Hero once you receive your new cards. On the topic of training, we know it is vital to the safety of our workforce. Reds Global is fully dedicated to this core value. We tried very hard to have a training day on the 7th July but our suppliers couldn't match our keenness and short timeframe. We are looking forward to delivering something soon that is structured with the collaboration of Safety, Operations and Consultative Committee. Watch this space.....The push to train and develop a safer workforce in Reds Global will never stop. I had the opportunity to listen to the mother of Christopher Cassiniti at a Foundation House dinner recently and as a parent myself, I can't comprehend the pain that family is feeling. On a brighter note, since our last newsletter, the Sales team have been hard at it securing new projects. We are back working with Buildcorp again on a couple of projects, have secured our first project with new tier one builder Roberts Pizzarotti and wins with FDC. We are also waiting on other results but continue to see a trend for dry hire demand. Our new daily / weekly reporting books, now being submitted on a daily basis has improved notification of issues and response times. This is a new system we have introduced, we are working through some teething issues but overall a big improvement. Hope to see further improvement and give the coal face the resources they need. Many of you will now know Lisa, our Office Administrator. I hope you hear the enthusiasm over the phone as we get here in the office. Lisa wants to help and will take a little time to get up to speed with a new environment. If in doubt Lisa is a contact if you're unsure who to call. I am personally thrilled to have Lisa on board. Unfortunately, Lachy Granter has decided to take on a new venture outside of the world of tower cranes which sees him depart Reds Global at the end of June. All the team wish him the best. Lachy has had such a positive impact on this business, led the top for over three years, mentored and trained many in our yard. Thanks Lach and good luck mate! Lastly and most importantly, YOU are the face of Reds Global. Keep safe, make smart choices and represent our company with pride #FirstChoice Cheers. RIGGING WORKS // DISMANTLES Folkstone for FDC. A MESSAGE FROM MICHAEL LOUIS - HSEQ MANAGER SAFETY SPOTLIGHT - June 2019 Safety Alert Video All Reds employees have been sent instructions through employment hero on how to view the safety alert video. Please access this video through the below link and use the password below. You will also need to acknowledge you have viewed the video on employment hero Link: - https://vimeo.com/340122956 Password - Firstchoice There will be follow up videos to watch, so please ensure you access these videos in the same way. Lifting Gear Registers Site Audits have highlighted an issue with site lifting gear registers. Registers are being found to be incomplete, not current and not in use on multiple sites. It is the responsibility of the crane crew to ensure the lifting gear registers is accurate, current and completed daily. Use of Tag Lines It has been observed by a number of builders that Reds crane crews are not using tag lines when required. All site boxes must have tag lines and these must be used on lifts. This is especially important for large or longer loads and when site conditions are tight or weather conditions require greater control of the load. Remember, if you lift it then you own it! Please note, our training day which was booked for the 7th of July has been cancelled. Please keep a look out for a new "Save the date" notice. TAX TIME // CLAIMS & PAYMENT SUMMARIES
Reds Global has received many enquiries into employees tax return claims from the ATO. The most common enquiry is in relation to the requirement to drive a vehicle for work. Reds Global is unable to provide a letter stating that crane crews are required to use their vehicle for work. Travelling to project sites is a requirement but the method of travel is at the employees discretion. You would need to seek professional advice to determine what you can and cannot claim as a tax deduction. Payment summaries will be issued before the due date of the 14th July. We always aim to have them out as soon as possible but please refrain from contacting the office to find out when, especially at this busy time of the financial year.
