In January 2015, NobelClad began the transition from our previous offices in Würgendorf, Germany to our new facility in Liebenscheid. Shortly after, we started to shift production equipment from our sites in Würgendorf and Rivesaltes to the new production hall. While the facilities are only a few kilometers apart, they are completely different in size and capability.

In a recent letter to employees, NobelClad President Jeff Nicol discussed some of the key reasons for the move. "Liebenshcheid can handle the large plate dimensions required for the commercial production of clad pipe, an important new target market for NobelClad." said Nicol. Nicol also observed how a world class facility in Germany will help to serve many of our end markets. "Our expanded capacity in Europe will allow us to shift production of select orders to our Liebenscheid facility and then export into Asia, the Middle East and broader Europe."

Bringing up a new production facility of this scale to produce custom, project based, clad plates for a number of diverse markets isn't easy, and there will be challenging along the way, but we are confident our customers will ultimately benefit on their most important projects. NobelClad expects the restructuring in Europe will allow us to become a better and more efficient partner in clad metal supply.

Jeff Nicol, President and General Manager of NobelClad, started with the company in February 208 as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing. In 2011, he served as Vice President and General Manager of DMC-Clad Metal in North America and was then promoted to President in October 2012. Prior to joining DMC, Mr. Nicol spent 21 years with Alcoa, a global leader in lightweight metals technology and manufacturing, and the pioneer in the industrial aluminum industry. While with Alcoa Forged Products, he ascended through various metallurgical engineering roles culminating in Chief Metallurgist. He then transitioned to sales & marketing where he served in various commercial roles over a 10-year period concluding his tenure as Global Marketing Director.

When asked about working at NobelClad, Jeff said, "Our relationships with our customers are really what make the business go. We recognize we have some of the best products and production facilities in the world, but without a strong relationship with our customers, none of our success would be possible."

Jeff still finds time for activities he enjoys outside of work. His wife and two high school aged kids keep him busy. He also tries to find time to play his electric bass and practice foreign languages. We've caught him around the office trying out his Chinese, and his German is always improving.

Jeff is a metallurgical engineering graduate of the University of Cincinnati and holds a master's of business administration from John Carroll University.

With the growth of the Liebenscheid plant as a world class European cladding facility, it became necessary to streamline the plant in Rivesaltes, France. The Rivesaltes plant experienced many changes; but under the leadership of Antoine Nobili, Managing Director of NobelClad Europe, our colleagues have proven we are a nimble and strong organization that is now better suited to face the global marketplace.

The Rivesaltes plant is becoming our center of excellence for our transition joint products, many of which are being made exclusively by our experienced team in France. France also functions as the primary sales, planning and support office for the European cladding facilities.
