Project: Machine learning assisted asset defect detection and condition reporting
WSP Australia Pty Ltd
Internship - $3000/month for 3-6 months
The goal of this project is to build a proof of concept system(s) that demonstrate the ability to automatically detect defects or automatically assesses condition through an automated analysis workflow. It is envisaged that this would make use of some combination of human interaction combined with automated algorithms. It is also expected that depending on data availability, one objective would involve trying to predict failures before they occur. The successful candidate would work within the team of software engineers, business analysists, subject matter experts, and cloud infrastructure engineers to provide machine learning and artificial intelligence expertise into the wider team. This is perfect for people with an interest in machine learning, artificial intelligence and computer vision.

The University is committed to diversity and inclusion, to do this we recognise that empowering our staff and students is critical in the University’s ability to continue to foster a diverse and inclusive institution by firmly and publicly showing that we value the diversity.
To support our endeavours, we are working towards establishing a university wide staff and student LGBTI+ Ally Network (network). The network will contribute to the University’s diversity and inclusion agenda by connecting with staff and students who identify as LGBTI+, allies and supporters, to create opportunities to engage, share information and foster an inclusive and supportive workplace and campus.
In working towards establishing the University's network and committee, we invite all graduate researchers to take part in its design via the UoM LGBTI+ Ally Network Consultation Survey, which should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
