No images? Click here We are really looking forward to meeting and getting to know you!Hi, My name is Sarah Hay and I manage the Anne Lister College Team. Alongside Paula Mountain-Agar (College Administrator), Alex Hudson (College Life Coordinator) and James Harrison (College Life Advisor), we work together to make sure that every student in Anne Lister is welcomed to their new community and is able to make the most of their time at University. We understand that coming to university can sometimes feel a little bit daunting, but your college team is here for you every step of the way. As we are a new college, we have partnered with our closest neighbours, Goodricke College, to organise an induction and a number of online activities in advance of your arrival, so that you have an opportunity to meet college staff and other college members to find out more about what it will be like when you arrive. Take a look at our website and join our official Facebook and Instagram pages to find out more and see what’s planned. Online InductionCompleting the online induction is a great place to start your university journey. York prides itself on being a community built on respect, and this induction explains more about the community you will be joining and our values. It is packed with useful information and resources to support you through your first few weeks. Pre-arrival SurveyWe are keen to hear from you. Please complete our pre-arrival survey and share with us your interests and ambitions or feel free to ask a question. Arrivals (if living on campus)Students living on campus will move into college over one day. We will contact you by email to arrange a time to arrive, so keep an eye on your University inbox to book an arrivals slot. Our arrival day is Sunday 26 September 2021. Please note: It is not possible to arrive any earlier than this date as the college will still be being prepared beforehand. The Accommodation Team will be in touch with you early next week with confirmation of your room number. Once you’ve arrived, there will be planned welcome events and activities, providing opportunities to meet other new students and join campus and city tours. We know that not all of our international students will be able to get here for arrivals day on 26th September due to travel restrictions. We will be extending our welcome events throughout October to allow for this and more information will be shared with everyone on these soon. Information for parents and supportersOn Tuesday 14 September and Wednesday 22 September at 19:00, we will be hosting an online welcome talk for parents and supporters. This will be an opportunity for the people who care about you to ask questions and meet college staff. Please share this information with your significant others and book to join the talk below. Please note: If a parent, guardian or carer contacts us on your behalf, we won’t be able to speak to them about you until we’ve received written permission from you first. What should I be doing now?
You’ll hear from us again on 17 September, when we’ll tell you more about what colleges have to offer. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! Did you miss our first email sent on 3 September? You can read it here. Protect. Respect. Be kind. The health and wellbeing of our students and staff is our number one priority. We’re asking all of our staff and students to protect, respect and be kind to one another, to ensure our campus is a safe and comfortable environment for all. Anne Lister College You are receiving this email because it contains useful information about your college and what you need to do ahead of arriving at the University of York. |
