November is Lindy Hop Inspiration month, and in honour, we will be celebrating our great love of lindy hop even more! Make sure to check out our Facebook page and website for upcoming events at dances to inspire us all.
Thank you to everyone who attended Lindy Harvest. It was the most successful year to date and, boy, was it a lot of fun! If you are still hankering for a little memorabilia we have Lindy Harvest t-shirts
left, along with our regular Sugar Swing t-shirts, and a few Summer Solstice shirts too. Our tees are always good for dancing in, wearing around town, or sporting to the beach (I'm thinking warm as the snow starts to fall). More dances, more classes, and more fun awaits at the Ballroom this month! Lindy Hop Inspiration MonthCalling all Lindy Hoppers! November is Lindy Hop Inspiration Month at Sugar Swing, and we need your help spreading the gospel of this wonderful dance! Your involvement will ensure that Lindy Hop continues to flourish in our swing scene, which means more fun dancing times for everyone.
The purpose of Lindy Hop Inspiration Month is to celebrate the dance as well as encourage and inspire new dancers to learn it and do it. Each week, the Sugar Swing social dances will inspire Lindy Hop through the music, the drop-in lesson, and some form of Lindy Hop showcase such as a performance or demonstration. Dances might also feature contests, raffles, and other activities that aim to get people catching the lindy bug. That said, you are invited to participate in this movement! Upcoming EventsCheck our Facebook page and website for upcoming special dance events at the Ballroom! Practice SessionsSaturdays at 6:00pm Sugar Swing hosts practice sessions every Saturday! For a mere ~$5 drop-in fee or FREE if you pay for
the dance that night, keeners and enthusiasts of all levels can participate in an open practice session for 1 hour. They're hosted by experienced dancers who provide fun, casual direction and exercises during the sessions. Easy Does It Dance &
The Jump SessionThe "Easy Does It" dance is similar to a Sugar Foot Stomp night, but with music being a notch slower. This opens up the possibility for lots of blues dancing vs SFS, but it will further cater to swing dancers. We'll play the occasional quick tune, but not so much. Meanwhile, "The Jump Session" is tuned to be a notch faster than a Sugar Foot Stomp night, but we'll now have occasional slow tunes along with more mid-tempo tunes.
