Salamanca Pedestrian Improvements

22 December 2020

Wrapping up for Christmas

The work crew have completed all of the scheduled work and the Salamanca Place plaza area is now open for everyone to enjoy over the summer and the festive season. It's good to see people using the new area, whether they are walking through from the waterfront, or are sitting under the shade of the umbrellas and having their lunch. It's incredible to think that just a month ago this was a busy construction site.

We would like to thank all businesses for their patience during this project and we hope that you like the final result.

The City of Hobart would also like to wish all businesses a safe and successful festive season and New Year.

Roadworks scheduled for January

The storm water team will be doing some explorative potholing work outside the Whaler to determine the underground services in this area. They are anticipating a partial road closure of the southbound lane of Montpelier Retreat between the 18-20 January 2021 as well as some noise disruptions. We will provide more detail closer to the date and will send out a reminder email.

Phase three

Although work in this section is now complete for the year, we are planning to be back in April 2021 to complete the final phase of the project. This work will include new footpaths near the Whaler, new kerbs, two additional zebra crossings and associated lighting.
