27 May to 25 July 2017, Ground Floor Gallery.

Right Wrongs reinterprets our understanding of the 1967 Referendum - its impact on who we are and who we can become - through the stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Fifty years later, the deeply symbolic victory of the "Yes" vote remains a key moment in the long and ongoing fight for equality. Oral histories, images and stories from the State Library's collection are featured.

Presented in partnership with NSLA, AIATSIS, ABC, the WA Museum and the Department of Aboriginal Affairs.

Right Wrongs is supported by a self-guided educational trail and other teacher materials. For further information, phone (08)9427 3202 or email your request to ed@slwa.wa.gov.au

What do families do on a day out in Perth?

Did children in the past enjoy the same Perth experiences as today's youngsters? Students delve into a history box to explore the variety of resources the State Library collects, and what stories they tell about the past, in this interactive workshop.

Resource in focus: Western Australia & Federation

Federation on Fair Terms- Member's Card. Battye Library [PR693011]

Images, documents and oral histories from the Battye Library are used to tell the story of Federation from a Western perspective.  Organised in three sections, Western Australia and Federation examines WA's reluctant entry into Federation (1890-1910), its popular secession movement (1929-1939) and issues affecting Commonwealth-State relations today.
