Giving young people a strong voice in Mitchell
Seven emerging leaders have taken an important step in helping improve their communities and in advocating on behalf of young people by joining the Mitchell Youth Council.
The Youth Council was sworn in at the July Council Meeting, with three new members and four re-elected members.
Mitchell Youth Council helps give young people a voice by listening to the issues that are important to them and developing initiatives, programs and events.
Second year member Lachlan Matthews-Gunn was named Mayor of the Youth Council, with Ebony Layley chosen as Deputy Mayor.

HOW WELL DO YOU RECYCLE?
Get your kerbside recycling guide
It's not uncommon to be confused about what can and can't go in your kerbside recycling bin, so we've created a guide to help.
There are also many recyclable items you can take to one of our Resource Recovery Centres, most of which can be dropped off for free if you're a Mitchell resident.

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH PLASTIC BAGS?
You can drop off soft plastics at most supermarkets
You can take soft, scrunchable plastics that aren’t accepted in the recycling bin to your nearest REDcycle centre.
This includes items such as plastic bags, cereal box liners, lolly bags, pasta and rice bags, biscuit packet wrappers and bread bags.
