www.heatherlea.ca | info@heatherlea.ca

On April 3rd, 2016 Heatherlea Farm Market celebrated the grand opening of their new butchery & café.

Located on a picturesque farm which has been in the family since the mid-1800s, the McArthur family has been raising hormone and antibiotic free black Angus beef for decades.

The new store offers a wide selection of fresh and frozen local meats, eggs, milk, cheese, produce and fine pantry foods. You can also grab a bite to eat along with a delicious treat and coffee. Chef and Head Butcher, Jason Cooney, is available to chat about everything meat, from selecting cuts to preparation and serving. He can fill you in on all the details and questions you may have about his pasture-raised Angus herd and his new venture with chickens.

With the opening of the new butchery & cafe, Heatherlea will also be offering classes in butchery and cooking that will provide customers the chance to learn techniques and skills from some of the area’s best chefs and culinary experts.

Ontario Tourism Labour Shortage

Ontario is currently experiencing labour shortages in the tourism sector and the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) has partnered with TIAC (Tourism Industry Association of Canada) to conduct an industry survey that will provide context to the labour shortage in Ontario. The survey will take place in three parts.  Tourism stakeholders are encouraged to complete part #1 of the survey before April 29.

The Study will be conducted in three parts.
The first part is an online survey of businesses, comprised of 16 easy-to-answer questions. The second part is a data collection exercise on staffing statistics for the month of July. A second link will be forwarded in July for completion. The third part is a data collection exercise on forecasted staffing requirements for the fall of 2016. This section will be completed at the same time as the July data collection.

Tourism industry partners are encouraged to participate in both parts of the survey – in April 2016 and again in July 2016.

A final report will be released in the fall of 2016.
