HELP SHAPE FUTURE
Our community is growing and our region will be very different 30 years from now. Our population is set to double by 2030 to 90,000 people. In the next 20 years, we expect this to reach 170,000 people. We will continue to grow into 2050 and beyond and could have the potential capacity for around 300,000 people to call Mitchell home.
Watch our video to find out more about this growth and how you can have your say.
We’re inviting everyone to help create a new vision as we head towards 2050.
If you haven’t seen us in person, you can still catch us this month and in early May.

COVID RECOVERY PLAN
Free workshops show next steps
From disengaged students, stories of isolation and loneliness, to vulnerable business and community groups and increased rates of family violence, COVID-19 has had wide-ranging impacts across Mitchell Shire.
To help address these impacts, Mitchell Shire Council endorsed the COVID-19 Community Recovery Plan at its April Council Meeting.
The actions aim to support COVID recovery, address disadvantage and encourage social reconnection.
The COVID-19 Recovery Plan will be presented at a free workshop on Tuesday 27 April at the Broadford Hall from 1.15pm to 3.30pm and on Thursday 29 April at the Greater Beveridge Community Centre. These workshops will also highlight the opportunities available to bring the plan to life.

HAVE YOUR SAY
Health and Wellbeing survey
We are also developing the next Health and Wellbeing Plan.
The input you provide through the vision survey will help shape the plan. We’ve also got a more detailed survey to help capture your thoughts and experiences around health and wellbeing in Mitchell.
This will help identify opportunities, changing needs and gaps for Council and other organisations.
We have created two surveys – one for community members and one for organisations and service providers
Submissions close 9am, Monday 10 May 2021.

AG PAVILION OPENS
Boost for Kings Park Reserve
The New Kings Park Reserve Agricultural Pavilion in Seymour is officially open offering more space for groups, events and even animals in any type of weather.
The upgraded pavilion includes modern facilities while maintaining the look and feel of the ageing pavilions that stood before this.
Council Mayor Rhonda Sanderson and Councillors officially opened the new site alongside Federal Member for Nicholls Damian Drum, the Kings Park Committee of Management and the Seymour Agricultural and Pastoral Society yesterday.
Significant regional events like the Seymour Show and Seymour Alternative Farming Expo will have access to more space for activities which will benefit both exhibitors and patrons.
Mitchell Shire Council and the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions fund contributed $487,000 each for the project – nearly $1 million for our community and its future.

MAKE OLD NEW AGAIN
Don't miss clothes swap event
Have you been holding on to a pair of your favourite jeans that you just can’t part with? Or, have a favourite handbag that you never use?
Mitchell Shire’s Youth Council can help you say goodbye to these items, reinvigorate your wardrobe and help the environment all at the same time.
On Saturday 15 May, the Mitchell Shire Youth Council is holding a Clothes Swap at the Wallan Multi-Purpose Community Centre, from 11am-3pm.
People are encouraged to swap clean, undamaged items of clothing they no longer wear, need or want using a token system at the event. There will also be sewing workshops to encourage up-cycling.
