Academic Technology News: March '17

Application for the Academic Technology Institute

Applications are now open for the Academic Technology Institute at Brown University. The institute is open for faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate student instructors who want to experiment with integrating technology into their course design. 
Over the course of four days, participants will explore the relationship between pedagogy and technology through a series of expert-led workshops, discussions, and presentations. By the end of the institute, participants will have developed a plan for an instructional project involving digital media or technology. Academic Technology, CIS will commit support for these projects throughout further planning and implementation.

Where: SciLi 6th floor and all over the campus

 

Tech Summit

The CIS Tech Summit will be a day of workshops, presentations, lightning sessions, tech demos, and more. The 2017 Tech Summit will highlight innovative uses of technology that connect people and ideas at Brown.

Engaging students using Piazza     

Piazza is a Q&A tool integrated and available in Canvas. Students can post questions anonymously, answer their peers questions, and read TA or instructor responses in the course forum. In addition to posting anonymously, students can endorse, or “upvote”, questions to increase interest in common issues. More on Piazza in Canvas.
