Bridge #22 is a precast, rigid-frame bridge that replaces a structurally deficient bridge built in 1940, while Bridge #5 is a new three-span PC beam bridge that replaces a low-water crossing. The bridges were part of a larger project to overlay 3.1 miles of Barrington Hollow Rd and add new guardrail, signage, and striping. Both bridges were designed by GUY and constructed by RRY Services. Funding for the bridges was provided through the County Improvements for Roads and Bridges fund. ![]() ![]() Top photo: BR #5 over Clear Creek ![]() Pictured in photo: John Blickensderfer, GUY President; Doug Hubbard, Cherokee County District 1 Commissioner; Kevin Arnold, ODOT Division 1 Local Gov't Engineer; Mike Brown, Cherokee County District 2 Commissioner, Scott Brians, CED #2 Manager; Joseph Agbetunsin, CED #2 Resident Engineer; Garry Harrison, ODOT; Rebecca Alvarez, GUY Vice President GUY Engineering and Ottawa County Team on Expedited Solution to Transportation IssueIn May 2017, Bridge #105 on Cayuga Rd in Ottawa County was undermined by heavy flooding. The 25ft I-beam span bridge, built in 1939, was no longer safe for travel and could not be repaired. Ottawa County needed a quick solution to return transportation to the community. After completing a hydraulic analysis, GUY Engineering determined that a triple-cell box would suffice. GUY provided box standards to the county so that county forces could construct the RCB. By choosing this solution, Ottawa County will have a replacement bridge in place within months instead of years. ![]() Construction of replacement Bridge #105 ![]() The original Bridge #105 ![]() Bridge Inspectors Snoop Under Arkansas River BridgesEarly in September, GUY's bridge inspectors used a snooper truck to inspect three Tulsa bridges over the Arkansas River. One of our bridge inspectors even returned some lost calves to their field, making the mama cow pretty happy. ![]() ![]() |
