The Vision: That all Northerners will have equitable opportunities for health, regardless of where they live, what they have or who they are.

The Strategy: Identify and address persistent health inequities, gathering the passion and determination of a large and diverse group of individuals living and working in the North.

Read the Northern Ontario Health Equity Strategy to learn more.

Quality Standards Patient Reference Guide cover

Quality Standard: Dementia in the Community

This quality standard addresses care for people with dementia living in the community. It complements a quality standard we released in October 2016 for people in hospitals and long-term care homes with behavioural symptoms of dementia.

Quality standards outline for clinicians and patients what quality care looks like. Read more about this program, and other recent standards on topics such as opioid prescribing for acute pain, chronic pain, and treating opioid use disorder.

MyPractice Primary Care wordmark

MyPractice: Primary Care

More than 2,500 family physicians have already signed up to receive a MyPractice: Primary Care report. Have you signed up to receive yours? For those who signed up before February 7th, your report is now available. Log-in to view your updated report.

MyPractice reports enable family physicians to confidentially see their individual opioid prescribing patterns in relation to peers across the province. The report also shows how your patients are doing with their cancer screening and diabetes testing – and how they use other health services, like emergency departments.

If you're not already a subscriber, sign-up by May 31 to get your report in June.

Pain Management Supports

Health Quality Ontario is collaborating with partner organizations across the health system on a coordinated program of supports to help clinicians manage patients’ pain, including the appropriate use of opioids.

These supports are about knowing as much as possible about what’s
available, what you can do, and who can help.
