Click here In this email we will look at just a handful of activities you can look forward to when you join us.Welcome EventsAll postgraduate students are welcome to our extended programme of welcome events. You may have heard about your GSA welcome week so far. The Wentworth College Welcome runs alongside the GSA events and we offer smaller, focused events to help get you settled and to meet people in smaller groups. Please sign up to our free events and take a tour of the website to see what is on offer at Wentworth during the first few weeks of your term. There is a lot to do including online events for those of you who may prefer interaction that way, or are unable to join us in person. If you will be living in Wentworth College, you might find it helpful to explore the Resident Arrivals and Resident Facilities pages. College LeadershipIf you don’t find what you are looking for in college, why not create it? Your college is there to support your ideas, and maybe even fund them. At Wentworth we have several student led events including Taekwondo and Zumba. If you have a skill or a talent to share, let us know! We understand that PG life is different to UG life and your time is precious, but remember that social interaction is good for your mental health and organising and being on committees is good for your resume. College committees receive a programme of professional development, but this is open to all students. So whether you’ve got grand plans, or just want to make small changes, the college is there to facilitate your ambitions. College SportCollege sports are a great way to socialise, try something new, or keep going with a sport you already enjoy doing. There is no pressure to play competitively, although many college members do enjoy inter-college tournaments and our yearly Varsity fixture against the University of Durham. Our yearly Wentworth Sports fund has benefited student activities including darts, fencing, netball, basketball and cricket. We have teamed up with YUSU and Halifax College to give members of Wentworth Graduate College greater access to sporting opportunities. Academic LifeAt Wentworth Graduate College we appreciate that you need to enhance your academic and career based skills as well as have a good time and develop networks. We have a varied programme of workshops, guest lectures, and seminars running throughout the year designed to help you with just that. Read our weekly newsletter and keep visiting our events page regularly for new opportunities and check the Student Events page regularly for events and opportunities. We will be posting PG only and welcome activities. What should I be doing now?If you haven't already, please complete the pre-arrivals survey, and online induction, join our Facebook group and Instagram and (if you are living on campus) book an arrivals slot.
Don't worry if you are arriving later in the term, we will be there to welcome you and you can join in any of the online activities prior to your arrival to connect with your postgraduate colleagues. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! Did you miss our last email on Wednesday 8 September? You can read it here. Protect. Respect.
