From Another View Exhibition

John Forrest's exploring party, 1874 024263PD

7 May 2019 to 19 July 2019

Ground Floor Gallery

A free exhibition by the State Library, in partnership with the Minderoo Foundation, considers the legacy of John Forrest's 1874 trek in shaping Western Australian and South Australian exploration history. To develop this exhibition State Library staff travelled through Western Australia and spoke to Yamaji, Martu, Yarnangu and Anangu about explorers walking through Country. This exhibition considers those voices and aims to contextualise Aboriginal people's understanding of Country with those of the explorers.

From Another View is supported by a self-guided trail and exhibition guide for school groups. For further information or to book your class for an excursion, telephone (08) 9427 3202, email ed@slwa.wa.gov.au or complete the online education program request form.

Resource in Focus: Education eResources

Photograph highlighting key eResources at the State Library

The State Library of Western Australia subscribes to many eResources on behalf of its members and clients. Many of these are useful for school teachers and students, providing free access to websites which would otherwise require a paid subscription.

These eResources have been carefully selected and compiled in one easy to access place on the website. Students and teachers require a State Library membership card to access the eResources.  This is easy to organise for your class. For further information, contact an Education Officer at ed@slwa.wa.gov.au or (08)9427 3202.
