Celebrating 40 years! Our year in review

This year, RLC celebrated a huge milestone – 40 years of life-changing legal assistance to our community. This year, like all the ones before, RLC staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to make our communities stronger and our laws fairer.

Thank you for helping us work towards these goals!

During the 2016–17 financial year, RLC:

Helped 4,646 people with their legal problems
Connected people with services appropriate to their needs on 2,017 occasions
Helped 2,868 women escape domestic violence
RLC was featured in the media on 71 occasions, and we wrote 9 law reform submissions to advocate for systemic change.

Case study: Karyn's story

Our employment solicitor, Sharmilla received a beautiful gift this week from a client thanking us for our help.

Karyn* came to RLC, seeking advice advice after her employment was unexpectedly terminated. She says:
