WELCOME TO THIS SPECIAL EDITION OF ENEWS

This week, we're launching the Mitchell 2050 Community Vision project. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for you to shape Mitchell for the next 30 years and beyond.

The ideas you share will be the building blocks for our future as we journey through growth and transformation, set new priorities and create a shared vision for tomorrow.

We've prepared some information below about how you can get involved and find out more. You can even win a great prize with a local hamper valued at $250 up for grabs.

What do you love about our community now? What do you wish for our community in the future?
WHAT IS MITCHELL 2050 ABOUT?

Fast forward to 2050, what sort of future would you like to see for the Mitchell community?

Our community will look very different by 2050. We want Mitchell to remain a place that we love to live, work and thrive in as we grow and change.

Your input will help shape the 2050  Community Vision as well as the next Council Plan and Health and Wellbeing Plan.

Watch our short video to find out more, see us at an event near you or go online and share your thoughts there.

  • What do you love about our community now?
  • What do you wish for our community in the future?

EASTER RECYCLING Tips for a sustainable Easter

If you're not sure what things you should put in your recycling bin this Easter, the Australasian Recycling Label can help.

This is an egg-cellent tool to help people recycle better. Did you know you can loosely scrunch Easter egg foil into a ball, no smaller than a golf ball, and place it in your recycling bin?

When we dispose of our recyclables correctly, we're contributing to a circular economy and making sure we don’t lose valuable materials to landfill.

RECYCLE RIGHT

ROAD SAFETY Take care on the roads this Easter

All of our community has a role to play in reducing road trauma.

Drive safe this Easter. We all need to be mindful about staying focused on the roads and ensure we all do what we can to keep ourselves and other road users safe.

Road Trauma Support Services Victoria offers free information and counselling to anyone impacted by a road incident.

The Fire Danger Period may have been lifted in Mitchell Shire, but if you’re burning off, there are still some rules to follow:

  • In residential areas, urban growth areas (less than 0.4ha or 1 acre) and semi-rural areas, you can only burn off on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10am and 3pm. You will need a permit to burn off outside of these times
  • In rural areas, you can burn off any day of the week

Never light a fire on days of Total Fire Ban or smog alert days.
