Full Scheme Agreement: More funding certainty for the NDIS rollout in New South Wales
Director of Social Policy Implementation at NSW Ministry of Health, Steven Davidson recently sent an update on the NDIS rollout. On Friday 25 May, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull signed a "landmark" agreement to provide more funding certainty for the full rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Support for the first time under the NDIS
New figures released show that more than one quarter of the 160,000 Australians now benefiting from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) are receiving support for the first time. "These figures show that under the NDIS, more and more Australians with disability are receiving better and more effective support and assistance than ever have before," says National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) Chief Executive Officer, Mr Robert De Luca.

Communique from the National Mental Health Sector Reference Group: April 2018
The National Mental Health Sector Reference Group (NMHSRG) provides expert advice from a cross section of the mental health sector to the NDIA about the progressive integration of psychosocial disability into the NDIS. The NMHSRG is also an important mechanism for information sharing across the mental health sector, NDIA and the broader community.

ECEI Announcement – Improved support for children with disability in NSW
The Early Childhood Partners in NSW have been recently announced.There are 15 regions in NSW and one Partner per region. The Early Childhood Partner will be the first point of contact for parents and carers and referrers who have a young child with developmental delay or disability and will work with families to ensure they have access to the right information and supports.

Summary: Report on the National Disability Insurance Agency's handling of reviews
This is a short summary of a report undertaken by the Commonwealth Ombudsman into complaints they have received by NDIS participants regarding review process. The outcome of this report is the NDIA have agreed to commence a number of initiatives to improve their review practices.

Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry (3DN)
3DN provides free eLearning about intellectual disability to professionals and carers. The goal of these resources is to improve knowledge, skills and confidence, leading to better mental health and wellbeing for people with an intellectual disability. There is specific e-learning content available for health/mental-health professionals, disability professionals and for family members of people with intellectual disability.
