In 2012, breast cancer accounted for 12% of all cancer diagnoses in NSW. Most women who are diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. GPs are encouraged to ask their women when their last mammogram was, and have the conversation about the importance of regular two-yearly mammograms.
