STORIES FROM THE JOURNEYSBridging Divides Across Cultures & GenerationsMentees Create Stories to Promote Literacy Among Adult English Language
Learners For English Language Learners, it can be hard to find reading level-appropriate stories and books that reflect the cultures, interests, and identities of these beginning readers. Mentors and mentees in the Storytelling Across Languages and Cultures Journey set out to change that. To help them craft their multicultural stories, we partnered with the nonprofit Storyshares, designing live workshops led by teaching artists who represent a variety of cultural perspectives. Additionally, mentees at Girls Write Now are now able to submit to a writing contest designed specifically for them called The Stories Without Borders writing contest.
Read on for events and opportunities that bridge divides & change lives.
