I think I must be a little sad in some respects. I love Senate Estimates. I stream the whole thing live for the two days on my computer, listening in the background while I go about my working day. I love them mainly because I'm not the one answering questions. I shake my head at some of the Dorothy Dixer questions, roll my eyes at some of the answers that don't really answer the question and generally applaud the effort of both sides to get their messages across.
It was interesting to note that Defence Minister Senator David Johnston chose to appear before the committee rather than in an NSC meeting. Stay tuned to Defence Week Premium and online as the highlights of the proceedings are digested and put into some wider context.
